Doechii Stack DUBS—Named Billboard’s Woman of the Year
Ayy, big ups to Doechii ‘cause sis been on go all year, and now Billboard just crowned her 2025 Woman of the Year. She finna get her flowers at a ceremony later this month, and it’s well deserved.
Doechii been slidin’ up the charts heavy, especially after her viral joints No Scrubs and Denial is a River had folks in a chokehold. Denial even hit No. 21 on the Hot 100, and that was just the start. She really stomped into 2025 after takin’ home her first Grammy for Alligator Bites Never Heal, making her only the third woman to ever win Best Rap Album. And let’s not forget how she ate on the Grammys stage, shut it down with Denial is a River and Catfish.
She stackin’ wins too—five songs on the Hot 100, collabs with Tyler the Creator (Balloon) and Jennie (ExtraL), and now this Billboard honor. Matter fact, she already caught Billboard’s eye back in ‘23 when they named her a Rising Star, and now look—she one of only three women to go from that to the Woman of the Year. (The other two? Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande. Yeah, she in that bag.)
Billboard’s editor-in-chief, Hannah Karp, called Doechii’s music “ultra-candid” with a “unique sound, style, and spirit.” In other words, she DIFFERENT different.
The Women in Music event ‘bout to be lit too. Jennie takin’ home Songwriter of the Year, Erykah Badu gettin’ the Breakthrough Award (as she should), and Meghan Trainor scoopin’ up the Hitmaker Award. And you know the performances gon’ be crazy—GloRilla, Muni Long, Tyla, and more hittin’ the stage. Whole lineup solid.
