Aight, listen up. The time might actually be here… maybe. RiRi done spoke on this new album again, and after damn near a decade of folks speculatin’, theorizing, and straight-up beggin’, we might finally be gettin’ somewhere.

In a new interview wit’ Harper’s Bazaar that dropped Saturday, the bad gyal herself let us know she finally cracked the code on what she wanna do for this next project. “I’m actually feelin’ real good about this,” she said. But before y’all get too hype, she did hit us wit’ a lil’ disclaimer: “I know I kept sayin’ this over the years.” Basically, she know she been playin’ wit’ our emotions.

And for all them reggae-album rumors? Yeah, throw that in the trash. “Way off!” she said. Instead, she made it clear that she ain’t tryna box herself into no genre. “That’s why I waited. Every time, I was just like, ‘Nah, this ain’t me. It don’t feel right. It ain’t matchin’ my growth. I can’t stand by this. I can’t be on tour singin’ this for a year.’”

She also made one thing clear—after this long, she ain’t finna drop no mid. “It gotta count. It gotta matter. I gotta show them why this wait was worth it. And after eight years? Shoot, might as well wait a lil’ longer.” Translation: Don’t ask her when it’s droppin’, ‘cause she ain’t tellin’ us. But what she is sayin’ is that the music “feels right” now, like she finally tapped into what she needed to do.

But Don’t Get It Twisted—She Been in the Studio

Even though she been ghost musically, Rihanna let us know she ain’t just been sittin’ on her hands. “This is my new freedom,” she said, explainin’ how hittin’ the studio been her way of pourin’ into somethin’ she left dry for eight years. “I been in the studio this whole time. But it ain’t hit me. I was searchin’ for it. I went through all kinda phases—‘this type of album, nah, not that one.’”

And she already settin’ expectations: “I know it ain’t gon’ be what people expect. It ain’t gon’ be some radio-friendly, commercial-type joint. It’s gon’ be what my artistry deserves to be right now.” So basically, if y’all was waitin’ on “Work Pt. 2,” that ain’t what she cookin’ up.

It ain’t like she was chillin’ all these years. Sis been stackin’ billionaire checks off Fenty, had us gaggin’ at the Super Bowl in 2023, and oh yeah—popped out two babies wit’ A$AP Rocky (and even slid to court for his trial, where he beat the charges).
