‘Big Daddy T’ Ain’t Tryna Hear No Tough Questions, So He Riggin’ the Press Game
Ayo, Trump and his people playin’ a dirty game wit’ the media now. They tryna shut out anybody askin’ real questions and only lettin’ they lil’ fan club of pro-Trump reporters in the room. Basically, they stackin’ the deck so only folks who gon’ gas ‘em up get to ask questions.
This week, they straight up snatched control of the press pool—that’s the squad of journalists who follow the president around, cover his moves, and report back to the people. Normally, the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) handle who’s in the pool, keepin’ it fair. But Trump’s crew said, “Nah, we got it,” and now they pickin’ and choosin’ who get access.
First day they pulled this stunt, they kicked HuffPost out—straight up swapped ‘em for Axios. Coincidence? Nah. HuffPost’s reporter been pressin’ Trump heavy, so they made sure he couldn’t even get in the room. Dude still pulled up outside and tweeted the questions he woulda asked, though. Real one.
And it ain’t just HuffPost. Reuters and AP got the boot too. Meanwhile, Newsmax and The Blaze, two of Trump’s biggest cheerleaders, slid right in. So now instead of real journalism, they just got folks in there askin’ softballs and hypin’ him up.
People not takin’ this lightly either. The top editors at AP, Reuters, and Bloomberg dropped a joint statement sayin’ this some anti-democracy nonsense and bad for the public. HuffPost’s editor called it “cowardly” and said they need to stop playin’ games. But let’s keep it a buck—Trump don’t care. If anything, he tryna tighten his grip even more.
Folks even compare this to how Putin did the press in Russia.
NYT’s Peter Baker, who used to report from Moscow, said Trump’s press takeover look just like the Kremlin’s playbook—shut out real journalists, only let the loyal ones in. And when Baker pointed it out, Trump’s press secretary hit him with a clown emoji and called him a “left-wing stenographer.” That’s the energy they on.
Even Jacqui Heinrich from Fox News had to tell ‘em they wildin’. She basically said, “Y’all think this helpin’ MAGA, but watch what happen when a Democrat do the same thing.”
Trump’s team claim they just “expandin’ access,” but that’s cap. They punishin’ real journalists and replacin’ ‘em with folks who cheerlead instead of report. They tryna build a lil’ propaganda bubble so everything Trump do sound like a W, even when it’s a disaster.
At the end of the day, real news still gon’ get out—but now, even more people gon’ fall for the fake, biased nonsense. That’s the whole play.
